Interview with

Chris ‘Ando’ Anderson of Apollos Twin

What first got you into music?

We all have our own individual influences but something we all have in common is that music transcends language and emotion. It has the ability to control and manipulate energy and I think that’s what ultimately draws in most musicians especially in the beginning.

Who inspires you to make music?

We do. We inspire each other. Along with our own personal experiences and perspectives of day to day life.

What makes you guys as a band click?

Egos are left at the door. We are all free to express ourselves whole heartedly amongst our group and we all accept that any criticism comes from a place of love and wanting to see each other as individuals and our music and band continuously grow and evolve.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Emotive and moving.

What is your creative process like?

Someone puts forward an idea and we all build on it together as a group. It’s very much a group process where everyone is hands on and offering ideas for different sounds on all instruments and vocals.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Forrester Savell is a big one I think. His work on karnivools sound awake album is next level and we always draw inspiration from that production in particular amongst others of course.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Oh man where do we begin.. karnivool obviously.. Paramore would be awesome to meet and be on a show with too.. there’s so many awesome inspirational bands these days.

When you sing in the shower (we know you do), what songs are they?

On top of spaghetti all covered in cheese.. you know that one?

Or I like to do the hokey pokey in the shower that’s a personal favourite of mine.

Do you have any upcoming shows(other than rockin the rissole)?

We have some tentative bookings with MMK in Brisbane and sweethearts cafe in Eudlo but nothing set yet. We are looking forward to working on some new music for the rest of 2019.

What is your favourite song to perform?

Picking our favourite song is like picking your favourite child we put our heart and soul into each one and love them all equally.. but in saying that I’d say creature beneath and absurdly alive are 2 that are really pulling their weight at the moment.

Which famous musicians/bands do you admire?

All of them.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

When my daughter was 4 she said to me on our way home from daycare “daddy, you know sometimes you have to be careful when you think you’re farting but you’re not”.. truer words have never been spoken.

What’s next for you?

Life...music.. success.. lessons.. ups and downs.. you name it we will be doing it.

Who would win in an arm wrestle, Lemmy or God?

Lemmy hands down.
